## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUGUST 25, 2017 ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ PRESSLEY AVIATION, A CFR PART 141 FLIGHT SCHOOL, CONTACTED THE CLT FSDO TO REPORT THAT DURING A PREFLIGHT INSPECTION, N3805T HAD BEEN FOUND DAMAGED AT MONROE-CHARLOTTE EXCUTIVE AIRPORT(EQY). THE AIRCRAFT HAD BEEN FLOWN TWICE ON AUGUST 24TH BY TWO DIFFERENT PILOTS. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATED THAT THE DAMAGED LOOKED TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY "OVER STRESSING" THE AIRCRAFT DURING FLIGHT. DURING AN ONSITE INVESTIGATION BY INSPECTORS FROM THIS OFFICE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE DAMAGE HAD BEEN CAUSED BY A HARD LANDING AND NOT AN OVER STRESSED SITUATION. DAMAGE APPEARS TO BE ISOLATED TO THE LEFT WING, OUTBOARD OF MAIN LANDING GEAR ATTACH POINT. A WING RIB JUST OUTBOARD OF MAIN LANDING GEAR IS CRUSHED AND HAS BEEN PULLED LOOSE FROM THE FORWARD SPAR, THE AFT SPAR HAS A SMALL BEND IN LINE WITH LANDING GEAR ATTACH POINT AND BOTH UPPER AND LOWER WING SKIN SURFACES HAVE AREAS OF WRINKLES. THERE IS A SMALL HOLE IN THE UPPER SKIN WHERE THE CRUSHED RIB ATTACHED TO THE FORWARD SPAR.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
