## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

HOT AIR BALLOON LANDED AT THE INTERSECTION OF SYCAMORE AND CHERRY AVENUES. THE PILOT STATED THAT AFTER LIFTOFF THE WINDS WERE NOT AS FORECAST AND THE BALLOON WAS HEADED IN AN UNEXPECTED DIRECTION. IT WAS GETTING DARK AND THERE WEREN'T MANY LANDING SIGHTS AVAILABLE IN THE DISTANCE SO THE PILOT ELECTED TO LAND ON A SOCCER FIELD WHEN HE NOTICED THE FIELD HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE ON IT. HE THEN ELECTED TO LAND AT THE INTERSECTION AS THAT PROVIDED THE LEAST RISK TO THE OCCUPANTS ON BOARD.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
