## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS AWARE OF 2X90 FOOT CRANES NEAR THE APPROACH END OF RUNWAY 18 AND MADE SURE HE WAS HIGH ENOUGH TO CLEAR THEM. HE SAID THE APPROACH TO LAND WAS STEEPER AND FASTER THAN NORMAL. THE AIRPLANE LANDED LONG AND IN INSTEAD OF GOING AROUND, THE PILOT CONTINUED WITH THE LANDING. THE AIRPLANE EXITED THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 18 AND CROSSED THE SEA WALL INTO TAMPA BAY, WHICH RESULTED IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE.

NOTE: CONTACTED NTSB IIC VIA EMAIL TO NOTIFY OF INCORRECT/ERRONEOUS INFORMATION IN THE NTSB PRELIMINARY REPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA17LA306](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA17LA306), Sep 1, 2017: Kerr Gerald Velocity SUV (N753GK), St. Petersburg, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's misjudgment of the airplane’s speed and the distance remaining during landing and his improper decision to not abort the landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
