## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY 400 FEET BEYOND THE APPROACH END OF A 2,500 FOOT GRASS RUNWAY AT 80 KNOTS AND TRAVELLED APPROXIMATELY 800 FEET BEFORE SLOWING TO 40 KNOTS. THE AIRCRAFT BECAME AIRBORNE AGAIN AT APPROXIMATELY THE 1400 FOOT MARK AND CONTACTED THE GROUND AT THE 1500 FOOT MARK. PILOT THEN APPLIED BRAKES AND PULLED THE YOKE BACK. AIRCRAFT SKIDDED ON THE WET GRASS BUT DID NOT RESPOND TO NOSE WHEEL STEERING INPUT AND IMPACTED A CULVERT AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. IMPACT CAUSED THE FRONT LANDING GEAR TO SHEAR OFF THE AIRCRAFT CAUSING SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA17CA525](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA17CA525), Sep 4, 2017: Cessna 182 (N6849M), Lockwood, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s unstabilized approach and failure to go around, which resulted in a runway overrun on a wet, grass runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
