AIRCRAFT N3187V WAS CONDUCTING A SURVEILANCE FLIGHT WHEN THE PILOT EXPERIENCED AN UNCOMMANDED ENGINE SHUT DOWN BETWEEN FL800' AND 1000'. THE AIRCRAFT WAS LANDED IN THE WATER APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES NORTH OF THE WEST END OF THE 7 MILE BRIDGE AND 10 MILES WEST OF KMTH IN THE FLORIDA KEYS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA17LA347](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA17LA347), Sep 16, 2017: Beech 35 (N3187V), Marathon, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined because saltwater corrosion precluded a complete examination.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
