## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING STUDENT TRAINING AND THRID TOUCH AND GO PILOT WAS ON THE UPWIND 450-600 FEET MSL WHEN THERE WAS A NOISE AND WHAT WAS FELT LIKE A RUPTURE. SOMETHING RED FLEW OVER THE WINDSHIELD AND THE AIRCRAFT IMMEDIATELY LOST THRUST AND VIBERATION OF THE ROTATION OF THE PROPELLER. PILOT WAS ABLE TO TURN BACK TO AIRPORT AND LAND SAFELY ON RUNWAY 32. THE PROPELLER WAS LOCATED 200 YARDS FROM THE AIRPORT. CRANKSHAFT WAS BROKE APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES FROM PROPELLER MOUNTING FLANGE. ID OF CRANKSHAFT SHOWED SLIGHT CORROSION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
