ON SEPTEMBER 21, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 1145 LOCAL TIME, THE PILOT FLYING N233TD A KITFOX LANDED ON A GRASS STRIP RUNWAY NUMBER 9 AT OLD FORGE PRIVATELY OWNED AIRPORT (NK26), AND WHILE ON TOUCHDOWN ROLL, THE AIRCRAFT WITH CONVENTIONAL LANDING GEAR AND BALLOON MAIN TIRES BOUNCED A FEW TIMES, DURING WHICH TIME THE RIGHT MAIN WHEEL AND BRAKE ASSEMBLY BROKE AWAY FROM THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR STRUT. THE LANDING GEAR DUG INTO THE THE GRASS AND DIRT A FEW INCHES FOR ABOUT 30 FEET DOWN THE RUNWAY BEFORE IT DUG IN FURTHER AND THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER, STRIKING THE PROP, LEFT WING TIP AND RESTED ON ITS WINGS AND TAIL. THE BROKEN WHEEL ASSEMBLY ENDED UP OFF THE RUNWAY ON THE FAR LEFT SIDE BEYOND A PARALLEL VEHICULAR ROAD APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET AWAY. THE PILOT AND THE ONLY PASSENGER, HIS WIFE SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES AND WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
