## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRMAN WAS PRACTICING FOR HIS FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR PRACTICAL TEST. HE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF PERFORMING A STEEP SPIRAL MANEUVER FOLLOWED BY A POWER OFF 180 DEGREE LANDING AT POV AIRPORT. THERE WAS TRAFFIC IN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN AND AN AIRPLANE HOLDING SHORT OF THE RUNWAY (27). AIRMAN WAS DISTRACTED LOOKING FOR TRAFFIC AND COORDINATING HIS ARRIVAL WITH THE AIRCRAFT HOLDING SHORT OF RUNWAY (27). AIRMAN STATED THAT HE WAS WAITING TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR UNTIL HE WAS SURE THAT HE COULD REACH THE FIELD WITHOUT ADDING POWER (PART OF THE POWER OFF 180 MANEUVER). HE BECAME DISTRACTED WITH THE TRAFFIC IN THE AREA AND HAD TO ADD POWER OVER THE LANDING THRESHOLD WHICH KEPT THE LANDING GEAR WARNING HORN FROM SOUNDING. HE LANDED WITHOUT EXTENDING THE LANDING GEAR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
