## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ OF THE MISHAP AIRCRAFT WAS PRACTICING TAXI AND GROUNDWORK IN THIS CONVENTIONAL GEAR AIRCRAFT AND HAD NO INTENT ON FLYING. HE STATED THAT HE THOUGHT AS LONG AS HE HAD THE CONTROL STICK BACK TO HIS BELLY THERE WOULD BE NO CHANCE OF BECOMING AIRBORNE. DURING TAXI HIS SPEED WAS HIGH ENOUGH TO BECOME AIRBORNE FROM A THREE POINT ATTITUDE WITH THE CONTROL STICK ALL THE WAY BACK. THE AIRPLANE CLIMBED TO 5 OR 10 FEET. SINCE THE PILOT HAD NO INTENT TO FLY HE PULLED THE THROTTLE TO IDLE, THE AIRPLANE DESCENDED WITH A HIGH SINK RATE BACK TO THE RUNWAY. UPON CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAT THE LEFT FORWARD LANDING GEAR STRUT FAILED; BREAKING IN HALF WITH BOTH HALVES CONTACTING THE RUNWAY CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO VEER OFF TO THE EDGE OF THE RUNWAY AND COMING TO A REST.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
