## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2017, A SKYWEST AIRLINES AIRCRAFT N177SY AN ERJ-170-200LR DEPARTED PORTLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (PDX) AND EXPERIENCED A BIRD INGESTION TO THE LEFT ENGINE AFTER TAKEOFF, AT APPROXIMATELY 7000 FEET MSL. THE PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC) IMMEDIATELY FELT A HIGH VIBRATION TO THE LEFT ENGINE SUPPORTED BY ERRATIC ENGINE INSTRUMENT INDICATIONS. THE PIC DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND RETURNED SAFELY TO PDX.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
