## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE CREW REPORTED WHILE AT CRUISE FL340 225 NM OVER THE PACIFIC OCEAN THEY HEARD AN EXTREMELY LOUD POP AND NOTICED THE PILOT SIDE FRONT WINDOW PANE HAD SHATTERED. UNKNOWING IF THE WINDOW WAS FAILING, THE CREW DONNED OXYGEN MASKS, AND BEGAN AN EMERGENCY DESCENT TOWARD 10,000 FT. THE CREW ELECTED TO REVERSE COURSE AND RETURN TO KSFO. DURING THE DESCENT, THEY CHECKED THE AIRCRAFT PRESSURIZATION AND DETERMINED THE AIRCRAFT WAS STILL PRESSURIZED. THE CREW ELECTED TO LEVEL OFF AT 15,000' AS THIS WOULD MINIMIZE OUR DESCENT SHOULD THE AIRCRAFT DEPRESSURIZE WHILE NOT LIMITING OUR FUEL RANGE GREATLY. AFTER DISCUSSION AMONGST THE CREW, THEY DECLARED AN EMERGENCY WITH SAN FRANCISCO . AFTER TALKING WITH OKC SERVICE CENTER OVER SAT PHONE, THEY DETERMINED THEY COULD SAFELY MAKE THE SACRAMENTO FIFO FACILITY. THE CREW COORDINATED WITH SAN FRANCISCO CONTROL TO CHANGE THERE DESTINATION ON THE REQUEST OF FIFO DISPATCH SERVICE. THE LEFT SEAT PILOT SAID HE HAD EXTREMELY LIMITED VISIBILITY OUT HIS WINDOW, SO AT THAT POINT THE RIGHT SEAT PILOT TOOK CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND COMPLETED THE LANDING AT SMF WITHOUT INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
