## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE OWNER PICKED UP THE AIRCRAFT, AFTER A 100 HOUR INSPECTION, FROM PORT TOWNSEND AIRPORT TO FLY BACK TO HIS HOME BASE OF OAK HARBOR. THE PILOT COMPLETED A RUNUP AND DEPARTED, AT APPROXIMATELY 200 TO 500 AGL THE ENGINE QUITE FOR AN AS OF YET UNDETERMINED REASON. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LAND STRAIGHT AHEAD ON THE REMAINING RUNWAY BUT RAN OFF THE END AND CAME TO REST IN A DITCH ADJACENT TO HIGHWAY 19. JUDGING FROM WITNESS DESCRIPTIONS AND ON SCENE PHOTOGRAPHS THE AIRCRAFT APPEARS TO HAVE ONLY MINOR DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER AND NOSE WHEEL FARING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
