## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER LANDING THE AIRCRAFT WAS ABOUT TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN IN AN EFFORT TO EXIT THE RUNWAY. PIC APPLIED POWER TO INITIATE THE TURN WHEN THE NOSE GEAR TRUNNION CONNECTION TO THE NOSE GEAR DOWN LOCK LINK FAILED. THIS ACTION CAUSED THE NOSE GEAR TO SWING FORWARD CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT NOSE ATTITUDE TO DROP STRIKING THE PROPELLER ON THE RUNWAY AND TEARING THE FUSELAGE JUST BEHIND THE FIREWALL AT FS 33.40

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN18LA017](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN18LA017), Oct 19, 2017: Piper PA 32RT-300T (N633CB), Port Mansfield, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper landing flare, which led to a hard landing and the subsequent collapse of the nosewheel landing gear due to the overstress failure of the nosewheel landing gear trunnion casting.

## Other reports on N633CB (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19820930061389I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19820930061389I), Sep 30, 1982: Piper PA32RT300T (N633CB), Kendallville, IN, Minor damage. Too low on final on a night landing. Struck a powerline which passed over top of aircraft. Landed on runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
