## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS TRAVELING THRU 8000 FEET AND WAS ESTIMATED TO BE TRAVELING IN A NORTH WESTERLY DIRECTION.

THE PILOT REPORTS AT 8000 FEET ENGINE INDICATED WHAT SOUNDED AS AN OVER SPEED CONDITION.

THE PILOT NOTICED OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT AND THEN AN OIL PRESSURE INDICATION OF 0.

PILOT IMMEDIATELY DECLARED EMERGENCY AND THE CONTROLLER GAVE A 16-MILE DESTINATION TO LAND.

THE PILOT HAD ONLY 8-MILE GLIDE AND SAW THE ATLANTA MOTORSPORTS PARK BELOW. THE PILOT LINED UP FOR LANDING AND A MAINTENANCE TRUCK WAS ON THE TRACK. PILOT VEERED RIGHT TO AVOID VEHICLE.

WITH LANDING GEAR DOWN, AIRCRAFT CONTACTED GROUND AND IMMEDIATELY PROCEEDED UP A SANDY BANK THAT WAS AT ABOUT A 45-DEGREE ANGLE AND 20 FEET HIGH. IT PROCEEDED THROUGH A WALL OF TIRES (IN PLACE FOR RACE TRACK SAFETY) AND ENDED UP FLAT ON BELLY WITH GEAR COLLAPSED.

INITIAL OBSERVATIONS REVELED:

* AIRCRAFT LEFT WING SKIN WAS WRINKLED AND PUNCTURED.

* AIRCRAFT RIGHT WING SKIN WAS WRINKLED AND PUNCTURED.

* THE FORWARD FUSELAGE/CABIN SKIN WAS WRINKLED

* FUSELAGE BELLY WAS OIL SOAKED AFT TO TAIL.

* NOSE AREA AFT OF ENGINE INDICATED IMPACT WITH HILLSIDE.

INITIAL INVESTIGATION REVEALED:

* ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING.

* LANDING GEAR HANDLE WAS DOWN.

* FLAP SETTINGS WERE IN LANDING CONFIGURATION.

* INTERNAL ENGINE PARTS FROM ENGINE (1 PUSH ROD AND PART OF ENGINE CASE) WERE LOCATED 15 FEET FORWARD OF

AIRCRAFT.

*REACHING THRU OIL SERVICE DOOR LOCATED 2ND PUSH ROD AND PUSH ROD GUIDE TUBES.

*PARTIAL COWLING REMOVAL REVELED LARGE HOLE IN ENGINE CASE AFT OF #6 CYLINDER
