## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 11/08/2017 THE PILOT OF AIRCRAFT N76238 WAS DEMONSTRATING A WHEEL LANDING TOUCH AND GO. THE PILOT APPLIED POWER AFTER FLAP RETRACTION AND THE AIRCRAFT HOPPED TO THE RIGHT AND THEN LEFT. THE PILOT WAS ADJUSTING PITCH AND APPLYING NORMAL DOWNWARD PRESSURE TO LIFT THE TAIL AND MAINTAIN A LEVEL ATTITUDE. THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO GET INTO A PITCH DOWN ATTITUDE MORE THAN NORMAL AND THE PILOT INCREASED UPWARD YOKE PRESSURE BUT COULD NOT STOP THE NOSE OVER AND THE PROPELLER STRIKING THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST INVERTED AT 10 TO 15 FEET LEFT OF CENTERLINE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA047](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA047), Nov 8, 2017: Cessna 140 (N76238), Macon, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's incorrect pitch control during takeoff, which resulted in a nose-over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
