## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT IN CHARGE, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, WAS EXECUTING AND DEMONSTRATING A PLANNED 180 AUTOROTATION. AS THE HELICOPTER DESCENDED APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET FROM ITS STARTING POINT OF 700 FEET, AND AT THE 45 DEGREE POINT, IT BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE IN PITCH ATTITUDE. THE AIRCRAFT HIT TAIL LOW, FOLLOWED BY THE MAIN BODY, PRIOR TO REACHING THE RUNWAY. BOTH PILOTS SAID THEY HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING A SUBSTANTIAL VIBRATION PRIOR TO LOSS OF CONTROL.

WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR, HOWEVER, CHRIS HAD NOT FLOWN AN R22 IN NEARLY ONE YEAR, AND NOT AT AN ELEVATION ABOVE 5000 FEET. MOST OF HIS ROBINSON IS IN THE R44, WHICH HAS SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT FLIGHT CHARACTERISTICS. NEITHER PILOT HAD FLOWN N47WH BEFORE THIS FLIGHT.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
