## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON DECEMBER 9, 2017, A PRIVATE APPROPRIATELY RATED PILOT DEPARTED CHICKASHA, OK TO CONDUCT SHORT FIELD OPERATIONS AT A PRIVATE SOD LANDING STRIP NEAR POCASSET, OK. THE FLIGHT WAS CONDUCTED UNDER 14 CFR PART 91 AS A PLEASURE FLIGHT. THE PILOT WAS MAKING HIS APPROACH TO THE NORTH FOR LANDING WHEN THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR CONTACTED THE LIP OF THE LANDING THRESHOLD, THUS SHEARING THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR FROM THE SPAR ATTACHMENT FITTING UNDER THE RIGHT WING. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTAIAL DAMAGE AS A RESULT, AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT. VISUAL FLIGHT RULES WEATHER CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA082](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA082), Dec 9, 2017: Piper PA28 (N8856W), Pocasset, OK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper approach path, which resulted in the airplane landing short of the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
