## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WAS RETURNING TO HOME BASE AT W81. ON APPROACH TO RUNWAY 33 THE PILOT CORRECTED FOR A CROSSWIND COMING FROM THE WEST. ON TOUCHDOWN HE DID NOT CORRECT FOR WINDS SUFFICIENTLY AND THE AIRCRAFT DRIFTED OFF THE EDGE OF THE RUNWAY (EAST SIDE OF RUNWAY). HE OVER CORRECTED TO GET BACK ONTO THE RUNWAY AND LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. HE EXITED THE RUNWAY INTO THE WIND AND STRUCK A DITCH.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
