## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DEPARTED PALMER (PAAQ) AT APPROXIMATELY 1200L AND ARRIVED YENTNA STATION (02AK) AT APPROXIMATELY 1300L. PILOT STATED THAT HE OVERFLEW THE RUNWAY TO CHECK CONDITIONS AND OBSERVED THAT IT HAD BEEN GROOMED. HE THEN FLEW A SECOND APPROACH AND DRAGGED THE RUNWAY TO CHECK THE SURFACE CONDITION. ON FINAL ROLLOUT AFTER PERFORMING A FULL LANDING THE LEFT MAIN TIRE DUG INTO A SOFT SPOT IN THE SNOW AND PULLED THE AIRCRAFT SHARPLY TO THE LEFT AND TOWARD THE LEFT EDGE OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT TIPPED ABRUPTLY TO THE RIGHT, RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT WING AND CAUSING THE PROPELLER TO STRIKE THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA090](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA090), Dec 18, 2017: Piper PA22 (N4805Z), Yentna, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s selection of unsuitable terrain for landing, which resulted in a loss of directional control and subsequent nose-over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
