## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER DEPARTING ON RUNWAY 25, THE ENGINE LOST POWER WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS AT APPROXIMATELY 400 AGL. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO LAND IN A FARM FIELD ABOUT 3/4 MILE FROM THE AIRPORT. UPON LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED TWO FENCE POSTS WITH THE LEFT WING AND CAME TO A STOP WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE ENGINE COWLING WAS REMOVED AND THE CAP FITTING INSTALLED ON THE ENGINE THROTTLE AND METERING ASSEMBLY WAS FOUND TO BE MISSING FROM THE INLET TEE FITTING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN18LA065](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN18LA065), Dec 19, 2017: Piper PA-28-201T (N555WM), Versailles, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The total loss of engine power due to fuel starvation when the cap fitting came off the inlet tee fitting on the throttle body/fuel metering unit.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
