## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2018, FRONTIER AIRLINES (CERTIFICATE NUMBER F3LA008Y) FLIGHT 1883, FROM MCO TO PHX, DECLARED AN EMERGENCY WHEN A PASSENGER?S CELLULAR PHONE AND CHARGER BEGAN TO HEAT UP AND SMOKE. THE AIRCRAFT DIVERTED TO TPA WITH 124 PASSENGERS ON BOARD.

TWO PASSENGERS REPORTED BURN INJURIES. ONE ON HIS UPPER EXTREMITY (RECEIVED TREATMENT ONLY) AND THE OTHER ON HER BACK (NO TREATMENT). A THIRD PASSENGER HAD DIFFICULTY BREATHING (NO TREATMENT). THE PASSENGERS WERE SEEN BY TAMPA FIRE RESCUE. ALL INJURED PASSENGERS REFUSED TRANSPORT TO THE HOSPITAL FOR FURTHER EVALUATION.

THE SMOKE DID NOT DAMAGE THE FRONTIER AIRLINES AIRCRAFT, AN A320-214, REGISTRATION NUMBER N221FR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
