## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE CFI REPORTED UPON ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT THE CFI ADVISED THE STUDENT THAT THE WINDS WERE NOT GOOD FOR FLIGHT. SINCE THIS WAS A TAIL WHEEL AIRCRAFT, THEY DECIDED TO DO TAXI ONLY TO GET A FEEL OF HOW THE AIRCRAFT IS CONTROLLED ON THE GROUND. THE STUDENT INITIALLY APPLIED TO MUCH POWER AND THE AIRCRAFT LURCHED FORWARD TOWARD A DITCH. THE CFI TOOK CONTROL, WAS ABLE TO GET THE AIRCRAFT AIRBORNE, AND FLEW AROUND THE PATTERN. WHEN RETURNING TO LAND THE STUDENT DID NOT APPEAR IN CONTROL SO THE CFI TOOK THE CONTROLS AND ATTEMPTED THE LANDING ENDING UP IN THE SAGEBRUSH WHERE THE LEFT GEAR BROKE CAUSING THE LEFT WING TO IMPACTED THE GROUND AND ENDED UP ON THE NOSE.
