## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

UTILIZING ATC DATA: DURING THE APPROACH PHASE, PILOT INITIATED SEVERAL LEFT?HAND TURNS WHICH APPEAR TO BE AN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT AN OFF-CENTER RUNWAY ALIGNMENT. FOLLOWING THE LAST TURN, THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED TREE TOPS THEN IMPACTED THE GROUND. THE INITIAL INVESTIGATION INDICATES THE PILOT WAS BELOW THE REQUIRED GLIDE SLOPE WHILE AT A LOW AIRSPEED AS WELL AS JUST LEFT OF THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE (ILS APPROACH). THE POST IMPACT FIRE CONSUMED THE AIRCRAFT. DEBRIS WERE CONTAINED IN A SMALL IMPACT AREA.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN18FA101](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN18FA101), Feb 18, 2018: Socata TBM 700 (N700VX), Evanston, WY, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of control due to spatial disorientation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
