HE ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON THE OLD LAKELAND HIGHWAY JUST SHORT OF THE RUNWAY WHEN HE HIT A TRAFFIC LIGHT/STREET SIGN POLE WITH THE RIGHT WING, UPPER WING TO LOWER WING SUPPORT STRUT. THE POLE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20? HIGH. THE AIRCRAFT THEN HIT THE ROAD AND THE ENGINE DEPARTED THE AIRFRAME AND THE AIRCRAFT LANDED ON IT?S RIGHT WING IN THE DITCH NEXT TO THE ROAD."

THE RIGHT WING WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED AND THE RIGHT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER WAS DAMAGED. THE REST OF THE FUSELAGE AND THE LEFT WING WAS NOT DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA18LA086](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA18LA086), Feb 23, 2018: Stearman B75 (N62438), Zephryhills, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate preflight fuel planning, which resulted in fuel exhaustion and a subsequent total loss of engine power and impact with a pole during a forced landing.
