## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRMAN WAS PRACTICING TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS ON A GRASS RUNWAY IN HIS PERSONALLY OWNED TAILWHEEL AIRPLANE IN WHICH HE WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT. AIRMAN STATED THAT DURING THE INCIDENT LANDING-ROLLOUT, HE ?TAPPED THE BRAKES? AND THE AIRCRAFT VEERED SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT; WHICH RESULTED IN THE RH WING STRIKING THE GROUND AND THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER THE NOSE. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST UPSIDE DOWN; THE PILOT FORCED OPEN THE RH DOOR AND EXITED THE AIRCRAFT. AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT, THE RH WING STRUT, WING SPAR, AND VERTICAL STABILIZER WERE SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED. THE AIRMAN REPORTED THAT THERE WERE NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA153](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA153), Mar 8, 2018: American Champion 8GCBC (N105BH), Many, LA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper application of the brakes during landing, which resulted in a nose-over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
