## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC STATED THE FOLLOWING:

-OBTAINED ALL RELEVANT INFORMATION ON 14AZ.

-OBTAINED WEATHER FORECAST INFO FROM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.

-PERFORMED PRE-FLIGHT CHECK WITH NO ISSUES, FUEL SAMPLES AND QUANTITY WERE ACCEPTABLE (NINE GALLONS USABLE, IN EACH TANK).

-KRNY ATIS REPORTED WINDS FROM EAST AT 10 W/ GUSTS TO 15.

-CONTACTED LOCAL 14AZ PERSON FOR RECOMMENDED LANDING RUNWAY. RUNWAY 24 WAS RECOMMENDED, AS IT HAS A 3% UPHILL GRADE AND IS PREFERRED, EVEN WITH A QUARTERING TAILWIND.

-NO DIFFICULTY LANDING. LANDED 600-700 FEET FROM THRESHOLD.

-GROUND ROLL WAS FASTER THAN USUAL, WHICH WAS EXPECTED, DUE TO TAILWIND.

-AS ACFT SLOWED, IT WAS BEING PUSHED TO LEFT SIDE OF RUNWAY, EVENTUALLY REQUIRING FULL RIGHT RUDDER, LEFT AILERON AND CONTROL FULL FORWARD.

-JUST PRIOR TO BEING PUSHED OFF OF THE RUNWAY, POWER WAS ADDED TO KEEP NOSE UP IN AN EFFORT TO AVOID THE DRAINAGE DITCH BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND TAXIWAY.

-THE ACFT IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATED, ACROSS THE TAXIWAY, INTO THE BRUSH ADJACENT TO THE TAXIWAY.

-THE ACFT CAME TO A STOP AGAINST A SMALL TREE.

-NO INJURIES DUE TO A 4 POINT RESTRAINT SYSTEM HAVING BEEN INSTALLED.

-TURNED OFF IGNITION AND EXITED THE ACFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA161](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA161), Mar 12, 2018: Cessna 172 (N418DD), Green Valley, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control of the airplane during landing with a tailwind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
