## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 3/16/2018 N761DV WAS OPERATING OVER SHELBURNE, VT PERFORMING AERIAL SURVEYING. AT APPROXIMATELY 2.9 HOURS INTO THE FLIGHT, THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS ON THE LEFT FUEL TANK AT THE TIME OF THE LOSS OF POWER. THE PIC STATED THAT HE UTILIZED THE AIRCRAFT FUEL GAUGES TO DETERMINE THE QUANTITY. DURING THE ENGINERESTART PROCEDURE, THE RIGHT TANK CONTAINING APPROXIMATELY 34 GALLONS WAS SELECTED. THE RESTART WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED IN A FIELD. THE SOLE OCCUPANT, WAS THE PIC WHO WAS NOT INJURED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA18LA111](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA18LA111), Mar 16, 2018: Cessna 210 (N761DV), Shelburne, VT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate fuel management, which resulted in a total loss of engine power due to fuel starvation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
