## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SIXTH APPROACH WITH THE RIGHT ENGINE SIMULATED FAILURE(THROTTLE AT IDLE) THE STUDENT REQUESTED TO WIT UNTIL FINAL TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR TO IMPROVE AIRCRAFT HANDLING SAFETY. PILOT AGREED AS HE MISJUDGED BASE TO FINAL AND WAS A LITTLE WIDE. PILOT SAW HIM REACH FOR THE GEAR SWITCH BUT DIVERTED MY TTENTION TO AIRSPEED INDICATOR AS HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO BANK TOOSTEEP. HE DID NOT SELECT GEAR DOWN BUT PLACED HIS HAND ON THE LEFT THROTTLE. FINAL APPROACH WASNORMALIZED UNTIL THE SOUND OF PROPELLERS CONTACTED THE RUNWAY WAS HEARD. PULL UP WAS IMMEDIATELY PERFORMED, GEAR LOWERED, POWER ADDED AND THE AIRCRAFT PERFORMED A GO AROUND. ON LANDING THE LEFTPROPELLER WAS FOUND TO HAVE APPROXIMATELY THE OUTER 3 INCHES CURLED BACKWARDS AND THE RIGHT PROPELLER HAD APPROXIMATELY THE OUTER 2 INCHES CURLED BACKWARDS. NO OTHER DAMAGE OCCURED TO AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
