## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

A PRIVATE PILOT AND HIS FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR WERE ON A TRAINING FLIGHT FROM KRAL-L35-KSBD-KRAL. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AT SAN BERNARDINO INTL (KSBD) AIRPORT WHERE THE PILOTS WERE PRACTICING TOUCH AND GO TAKE-OFFS AND LANDINGS IN THE PATTERN. AFTER TAKE-OFF, THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR PULLED THE THROTTLE BACK TO SIMULATE AN ENGINE FAILURE AND ASKED THE STUDENT TO LAND ON THE REMAINING RUNWAY. SHORTLY AFTER TAKE OFF, THE STUDENT HAD PLACED THE GEAR IN THE UP POSITION WITHOUT THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR OBSERVING. THIS RESULTED IN A GEAR UP LANDING ON RUNWAY 6 AT KSBD.
