## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 30 MARCH 2018 AT APPROXIMATELY 1040 HOURS, N101EB, A BACSANYI BX-2001 AIRCRAFT DEPARTED (KLMT) CRATER LAKE/KLAMATH AIRPORT, ENROUTE TO (A32) BUTTE VALLEY AIRPORT CA. THE PERSONAL TRAINING FLIGHT WAS CONDUCTED IN VMC CONDITIONS.

THE PIC/CHECK AIRMAN STATED THAT SHE WAS CONDUCTING TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS FOR TRAINING. DURING TAKEOFF, ON THE THIRD TOUCH AND GO LANDING, THE PILOT STATED THAT SHE ENCOUNTERED A STRONG WIND GUST CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO ABRUPTLY PITCH UPWARDS AND THEN PITCH ABRUPTLY DOWNWARDS WHERE IT IMPACTED THE RUNWAY IN A NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE AND FLIPPED OVER COMING TO REST INVERTED.

THE INVESTIGATING INSPECTOR FOUND THE AIRMAN TO BE FORTHCOMING, COOPERATIVE, AND TO HAVE A CONSTRUCTIVE AND COMPLIANT ATTITUDE. A SEARCH FAA DATABASES DID NOT DISCLOSE ANY PREVIOUS VIOLATIONS, ACCIDENTS, OR INCIDENT HISTORY. THE AIRMAN STATED THAT SHE FAILED TO ADEQUATLEY RESPOND TO THE SUDDEN WIND GUST RESULTING IN A LOSS OF CONTROL.

THE AIRMAN WAS VERBALLY COUNSELED IN ACCORDANCE WITH COMPLIANCE PHILOSOPHY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA191](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA191), Mar 30, 2018: Piper PA18 (N101EB), Dorris, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
