## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE AIRCRAFT WAS LANDING ON RUNWAY 25L AT LIVERMORE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT CA, A LOW LEVEL WIND GUST PUSHED THE AIRCRAFT TOWARDS THE LEFT (SOUTH) SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. WHEN THE CFI BECAME AWARE OF WHAT WAS OCCURRING, HE TRIED TO GRAB THE CONTROLS FROM THE STUDENT AND GO AROUND, BUT IT WAS TOO LATE. FULL THROTTLE WAS APPLIED, BUT THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED OFF THE GROUND WITH THE RIGHT WHEEL ON THE RUNWAY AND LEFT WHEEL IN THE GRASS. CFI FELT THAT WHILE LEFT WHEEL WAS IN THE GRASS THAT IT CAUGHT ON SOMETHING, SPINNING THE AIRCRAFT TO THE LEFT. THEY LANDED SIDEWAYS OF THE RUNWAY, NOSE WHEEL FIRST, WHICH CAUSED THE NOSE WHEEL TO BREAK OFF AND THE PROP TO STRIKE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA201](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA201), Apr 5, 2018: Cessna 172 (N1438U), Livermore, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot’s failure to maintain runway centerline and flight instructor’s delayed remedial action during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
