## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED HE FLEW A NORMAL TRAFFIC PATTERN INTO SUFFOLK EXECUTIVE AIRPORT (SFQ). HE EXTENDED THE LANDING GEAR ON THE DOWNWIND LEG AND CONFIRMED THE GEAR WAS DOWN AND LOCKED BY OBSERVING THREE GREEN LIGHTS ON THE LANDING GEAR INDICATION SYSTEM. HOWEVER, UPON TOUCHDOWN, THE AIRCRAFT'S LANDING GEAR WAS IN THE RETRACTED POSITION AND THE AIRCRAFT LANDED ON THE FUSELAGE RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE FLAPS, FUSELAGE, AND PROPELLERS. THE PILOT STATED THE GPS ANTENNA WIRE HAD INADVERTENTLY BEEN LOOPED AROUND THE LANDING GEAR LEVER. WHEN THE PILOT PULLED THE CONTROL WHEEL FOR LANDING, THE WIRE TIGHTENED AGAINST THE GEAR LEVER AND PULLED THE LANDING GEAR HANDLE UP, THUS RETRACTING THE LANDING GEAR. A WITNESS ON THE GROUND CONFIRMED THE PILOT'S ACCOUNT OF THE INCIDENT. WITNESS STATED HE OBSERVED THE LANDING GEAR IN A 45 DEGREE ANGLE WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS OVER THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA251](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA251), Apr 17, 2018: Beech 95 B55 (N4464S), Suffolk, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to properly secure the portable GPS and antenna cable, which resulted in the inadvertent landing gear retraction during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
