## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED THAT UPON TOUCHDOWN HE WAS SLIGHTLY OFF ANGLE TO THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE AND STARTED VEERING OFF THE RUNWAY. HE ENDED UP OVERCORRECTING AND INTO THE GRASS TOWARD A LOW SPOT. FEARING THE AIRCRAFT MIGHT GET STUCK HE MADE THE DECISION TO KEEP THE POWER ON AND TAKEOFF FROM THE GRASS. THE TAKEOFF WAS THEN ABORTED DUE TO TREES IN THE FLIGHT PATH AND AN ATTEMPT TO SLOW THE AIRCRAFT WITH BRAKES RESULTED IN THE AIRCRAFT NOSING OVER ON TO ITS BACK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA241](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA241), Apr 28, 2018: Aeronca 65 LB (N34459), Carrington, ND, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control and his subsequent excessive brake application during landing, which resulted in a nose-over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
