## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED THAT THE SECOND PILOT WAS BEING GIVEN INSTRUCTIONAL TRAINING AND THAT HE (SECOND PILOT) WAS ON THE CONTROLS DURING TAKEOFF. AT ABOUT 700 FEET THE AIRPLANE MADE A HARD LEFT TURN. THE PILOT TOOK OVER THE CONTROLS BUT HE COULD NOT RECOVER AND THE AIRCRAFT LANDED HARD, ON THE FRONT TIRE FIRST. BOTH PILOTS WERE EJECTED. POST ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION DISCOVERED THAT THE WING AND NOSE GEAR WERE DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR18LA132](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR18LA132), May 1, 2018: Cosmos Phase III (N6466), Fernandina Beach, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's failure to maintain aircraft control and the flight instructor’s failure to adequately monitor the student pilot before aircraft control was lost at a low altitude.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
