## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED VIA A PHONE INTERVIEW THAT THE EVENT FLIGHT WAS A POST MAINTENANCE FLIGHT. THE PILOT STATED THAT ON A PREVIOUS FLIGHT THE AIRCRAFT DEMONSTRATED "ENGINE POWER ISSUES" THAT WAS BELIEVED TO BE RELATED TO SEVERAL POSSIBLE FUEL ASPECTS INCLUDING: FUEL FLOW, RESTRICTION OF FUEL TO THE DISTRIBUTER, AND/OR THE FUEL PUMP.

BASED ON THIS BELIEF, THE AIRCRAFT WAS FITTED WITH ALL NEW FUEL LINES AND FUEL LINE FITTINGS IN AN EFFORT TO FIX THE "ENGINE POWER ISSUES".

AFTER THIS MAINTENANCE WAS PERFORMED, THE AIRCRAFT WAS GROUND RUN AND LEAK CHECKED. NO MECHANICAL OR FUEL RELATED ISSUES EXISTED. THE PILOT FLEW OUT OF LAKE HOOD (PALH) VIA RUNWAY 32 FOR A POST MAINTENANCE FLIGHT TO REMAIN IN THE PATTERN. THE AIRCRAFT SUCCESSFULLY MADE THE FIRST PATTERN AND UPON FINAL THE PILOT ELECTED TO INITIATE A GO-AROUND AND APPLIED "PARTIAL POWER" TO DO SO. UPON APPLYING "PARTIAL POWER" THE ENGINE QUIT. THE PILOT ELECTED TO TRY AND LAND WITH THE REMAINING RUNWAY IN WHICH THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED BACK INTO THE AIR UPON INITIAL TOUCHDOWN ON THE RUNWAY BUT WITH NO MORE RUNWAY REMAINING ENDED UP ON THE NORTH END OF THE AIRPORT IN THE SWAMP ON THE AIRCRAFTS BACK.

THE PILOT STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS FULL OF FUEL AND THAT THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS ON THE LEFT TANK. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE ACCIDENT THE PILOT TURNED THE FUEL SELECTOR TO THE OFF POSITION AND EXITED THE AIRCRAFT UNASSISTANCED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC18LA038](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC18LA038), May 24, 2018: James Wiebe Belite Pipper (N3748), Anchorage, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: An inadequate fuel supply to the engine, which resulted in a total loss of engine power and subsequent impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
