## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRMAN WAS PRACTICING TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS ON A PRIVATE GRASS RUNWAY FOUR MILES SOUTHWEST OF THE RAYVILLE, LA (M79) AIRPORT IN HIS TAILWHEEL AIRPLANE IN WHICH HE WAS A CO-OWNER. HE HAD ONE PASSENGER, WHO IS THE OTHER CO-OWNER OF THE AIRCRAFT. AIRMAN STATED THAT HE WAS ATTEMPTING A THREE-POINT LANDING, WHEN HE "LOST FLYING ENERGY" APPROXIMATELY FIVE FEET ABOVE THE RUNWAY AND HAD A HARD LANDING. HE BOUNCED BACK UP INTO THE AIR AND LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT, STATING THAT HE "WAS JUST ALONG FOR THE RIDE". HE TRIED TO REGAIN CONTROL, BUT THE LEFT-HAND WING STRUCK THE GROUND AND THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST UPSIDE DOWN; THE PILOT FORCED OPEN THE DOOR AND HE AND THE PASSENGER EXITED THE AIRCRAFT. THE PASSENGER CUT HIS ARM, REQUIRING 15 STITCHES. HE IS UNSURE IF THE INJUY OCCURED DURING THE LANDING SEQUENCE OR DURING EVACUATION. AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT, THE LEFT-HAND WING STRUT AND VERTICAL STABILIZER WERE SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED.
