## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE TAKING-OFF FROM A PRIVATE, GRASS RUNWAY, THE AIRCRAFT REACHED ROTATION SPEED, BUT WOULD NOT LIFT OFF. THE PILOT CONTINUED TO PULL BACK ON THE ELEVATOR UNTIL THE CONTROL STICK HIT THE STOP. IT BECAME APPARENT THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT GOING TO LIFT OFF AND CLEAR THE TREEES AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY, SO THE PILOT ADDED FULL RIGHT RUDDER AND PULLED THE THROTTLE TO IDLE, WHILE KEEPING THE CONTROL STICK FULL AFT. FROM GROUND MARKS, IT APPEARS THE AIRCRAFT MOMENTARILY LEFT THE GROUND. IT CAME TO REST 50 TO 75 FEET EAST OF THE RUNWAY, EVEN WITH THE NORTH (DEPARTURE) EDGE OF THE RUNWAY, FACING SOUTH.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA18LA158](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA18LA158), Jun 3, 2018: Bellanca 7ECA (N8698), Warsaw, KY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s inadequate preflight performance planning, and his delayed decision to abort the takeoff, which resulted in a ground loop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
