## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT LANDED ON RUNWAY 18 AT SEDALIA MEMORIAL AIRPORT WITH WINDS REPORTED AT 7 KNOTS FROM 230 DEGREES. ON TOUCHDOWN, THE PILOT STATED THE AIRCRAFT SWERVED IMMEDIATELY LEFT. HE APPLIED RIGHT RUDDER AND REDUCED POWER TO IDLE WITH LITTLE EFFECT ON THE AIRCRAFT DIRECTIONAL TRAVEL. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT AND STRUCK AN ELEVATED RUNWAY LIGHT ASSEMBLY CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN18LA220](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN18LA220), Jun 7, 2018: Beech A23 (N8775M), Sedalia, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of directional control during the landing rollout due to the unexpected wind shift, which resulted in a runway excursion.

## Other reports on N8775M (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19881018057549I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19881018057549I), Oct 18, 1988: Beech A23 (N8775M), Borger, TX. Engine cut out after takeoff. Student turned on fuel pump and engine quit. Forced landing. Selector on low tank.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
