## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 14 JUNE 2018, N9098C AN AERONCA L-16 S/N 7BCM-372 IMPACTED THE GROUND JUST AFTER TAKEOFF. THE PILOT IN COMMAND TAXIED OUT, PERFORMED A SHORT RUN UP AND TOOK OFF. APPROXIMATELY 400 TO 500 FEET OF ALTITUDE THE PIC QUESTIONED THE AIRCRAFT MAKING ENOUGH POWER TO CONTINUE CLIMB OUT. THE PIC MADE THE DECISION TO TURN THE AIRCRAFT AND RETURN TO LAND. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TIGHT LEFT TURN THE AIRCRAFT STALLED SPINNING TO THE GROUND, RESTING APPROXIMATELY 150 TO 200 FEET FROM THE CENTERLINE OF THE RUNWAY IN AN OPEN FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED AND THE AIRMAN SUFFERED HEAD AND BACK INJURIES.
