PART 91 NONCOMMERCIAL RECREATIONAL PRACTICE FLIGHT. NORMAL PREFLIGHT WEATHER AND AIRFIELD INFORMATION WAS REVIEWED ALONG WITH PREFLIGHT AND FUEL SERVICE. AT APPROXIMATELY 1330 ALASKA TIME ON 14 JUN, PILOT DEPARTED ANDERSON LAKE, RWY 26, TO VISIT MECHANIC AT WILLOW TO ASSES THE AIRPLANE FOR A FUTURE FLOAT INSTALLATION. AFTER THE STOP AT WILLOW, PILOT TOOK OFF AND PROCEEDED TO THE KNIK AREA FOR TAKEOFF AND LANDING PRACTICE. ALL TOTAL, TO INCLUDE WILLOW, CONDUCTED 11 LANDINGS AND SUBSEQUENT TAKEOFFS IN THE 2.5 HRS OF OPERATING TIME PRIOR TO LANDING BACK AT ANDERSON. UPON ARRIVAL AT ANDERSON LAKE, AT APPROX 1755 ALASKA TIME, PILOT OVERFLEW THE FIELD. AT ALTITUDE WINDS APPEARED TO FAVOR RUNWAY 08, HOWEVER THE WINDSOCK SLIGHTLY FAVORED RUNWAY 26 WITH LIGHT WINDS (UNKNOWN AT THE TIME, THE WINDSOCK HAD A HOLE IN IT AND WAS BEING AFFECTED BY THE TREES NEARBY). ON SHORT FINAL PILOT EXPERIENCED MODERATE TURBULENCE AND MADE MULTIPLE POWER ADJUSTMENTS WITH CONSTANT CONTROL INPUT TO MAINTAIN RUNWAY ALIGNMENT AND GLIDE PATH. TOUCHDOWN WAS A NORMAL WHEEL LANDING WITH FLAPS, AFTER LOWERING THE TAILWHEEL, AND SLOWING TO AN ESTIMATED 20-25 MPH, THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO SWERVE RIGHT. PILOT PUT IN FULL AILERON TO THE LEFT, APPLIED FULL LEFT RUDDER AND APPLIED MAXIMUM LEFT BRAKING WHICH ONLY SLOWED THE RIGHT SWERVE SLIGHTLY. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED A GARDEN POST 30 RIGHT OF THE RUNWAY AND COME TO REST IN THE TREES 50 RIGHT OF THE RUNWAY, WITH THE FUSELAGE STOPPING APPROXIMATELY 60 FROM THE RUNWAY. AFTER EXITING THE AIRCRAFT, PILOT OBSERVED THE WINDSOCK FAVORING RUNWAY 26 AND PERIODICALLY APPEARED TO BE LIMP OR SWIRLING IN THE WIND SHADOW BEHIND THE TREES, WHILE A PRIVATE FLAG MIDFIELD FAVORED RUNWAY 08 MODERATELY OR WOULD GO LIMP AT TIMES. AFTER THE INCIDENT, PILOT WAS TOLD THE WINDSOCK HAD A HOLE IN IT AND IT WASNT UNCOMMON TO PROVIDE FALSE INFORMATION IN THE WAKE OF THE TALLER TREES TO THE SOUTH. THE WINDSOCK WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE A FEW DAYS AFTER THE INCIDENT.
