## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING TAKEOFF ROLL AT APPROXIMATELY 60 KNOTS, THE AIRCRAFT?S LEFT WING STRUCK A DEER ON THE RUNWAY. THE ANIMAL STRUCK THE LEFT WING LEADING EDGE TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE WING, RUPTURING THE WING FUEL TANK. THE TANK WAS TORN AWAY FROM THE WING RIB CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE WING STRUCTURE. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE DONE TO THE LANDING GEAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA402](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA402), Jun 28, 2018: Piper PA28 (N7104F), Rolla, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: A collision with a deer on the runway during the takeoff roll at night.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
