## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FLIGHT WAS BEING CONDUCTED BY AIRCRAFT OWNER FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAINTAINING INSTRUMENT CURRENCY. THE PIC HAD A CFII ON BOARD TO ACT AS A SAFETY PILOT. THE PIC HAD JUST CONDUCTED AN INSTRUMENT APPROACH TO RUNWAY 10 AND WAS CONDUCTING A CIRCLING APPROACH TO RUNWAY 28. BOTH PILOTS STATED THAT THE GEAR WAS CONFIRMED DOWN WITH THE MECHANICAL INDICATION AND THE GREEN LIGHT ON DOWNWIND AND ON SHORT FINAL. AS THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE RUNWAY THE GEAR COLLAPSED. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AS THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE RUNWAY. WITNESS MARKS WERE ON THE RUNWAY FROM CONTACT WITH THE FUSELAGE AND THE PROPELLER.

THE SODUS AIRPORT MANAGER NOTIFIED ROCHESTER APPROACH CONTROL ABOUT THE EVENT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS REMOVED FROM THE RUNWAY BEFORE BEING RELEASED BY THE FAA.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
