## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL, PRIOR TO ROTATION, THE PILOT HEARD A NOISE FOLLOWED BY A DROP OF THE RIGHT WING. THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR LEG DUG INTO THE TURF CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO SLOW, VEER TO THE RIGHT AND DEPART THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT MADE AN EMERGENCY ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP WHEN THE RIGHT WING IMPACTED A HAY BALE. THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT UNINJURED. A VISUAL INSPECTION FOUND THAT THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR LEG HAD BROKEN IMMEDIATELY ABOVE THE AXLE ATTACHMENT POINT. THE AXLE AND WHEEL ASSEMBLY WERE NOT LOCATED AND ARE BELIEVED TO HAVE ROLLED INTO AN ADJACENT SWAMP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA18LA182](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA18LA182), Jun 30, 2018: Piper PA 25 (N6307Z), Flat Rock, AL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the right landing gear during takeoff due to a fatigue failure, which resulted in a runway excursion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
