## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF RPM AND A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE AFTER INITIATING A SHALLOW DESCENT FROM 2000 FEET. PILOT WAS UNABLE TO REGAIN RPM AFTER ADJUSTING THROTTLE AND LEANING MIXTURE. PILOT CHOSE TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON A DIRT ROAD. ON TOUCHDOWN, NOSE WHEEL DUG INTO THE SAND AND COLLAPSED. THE AIRCRAFT'S MOMENTUM CAUSED IT TO FLIP OVER ON ITS BACK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA419](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA419), Jun 30, 2018: Cessna 152 (N89887), Panama City, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper preflight fuel planning, which resulted in fuel exhaustion and a subsequent total loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
