## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT WAS CONDUCTING SINGLE-PILOT, CARGO-ONLY OPERATIONS AND WAS TO REPOSITION BACK TO KHYA WITH NO FREIGHT ONBOARD. WHILE HOLDING SHORT OF RUNWAY 6, THE PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC) WAS PERFORMING PRE-TAKEOFF CHECKS AND NOTICED THE NAVIGATION (NAV) LIGHT SWITCH WAS IN THE 'OFF' POSITION. THE PIC SELECTED THE SWITCH TO 'ON' AND SHORTLY AFTERWARDS NOTICED A ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL AND WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE NAV LIGHT SWITCH.

THE PIC NOTIFIED ATC THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE ONBOARD AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY, SHUT OFF ELECTRICAL POWER, THEN EVACUATED THE AIRCRAFT THROUGH THE CREW DOOR AND WAITED FOR AIRFIELD FIRE RESCUE TO ARRIVE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
