## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 07/04/2018, N208EE OPERATED BY AIR CHOICE ONE (MUIA) WAS STRUCK BY A CLEANING COMPANY'S SERVICE TRUCK. THE AIRCRAFT WAS PARKED AT GATE L11A WITH THE AIRCRAFT NOSE POINTING IN THE DIRECTION OF THE TAXIWAY AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. THIS GATE IS LOCATED NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF A TAXIWAY ROAD AND THE TERMINAL ROAD. THE SERVICE TRUCK DRIVER STATED THAT HE WAS CROSSING THE TAXIWAY VIA THE TAXIWAY ROAD AND AS HE APPROACHED THE INTERSECTION WITH THE TERMINAL ROAD, A BAGGAGE CART TUG PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF HIM. THIS CAUSED THE DRIVER TO SWERVE TO THE LEFT TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH THE BAGGAGE CART TUG. THE BAGGAGE CART TUG WAS TRAVELING FROM THE SERVICE TRUCK DRIVER'S LEFT TO RIGHT. THE BAGGAGE CART TUG DID STOP AT THE INTERSECTION BUT THEN PROCEEDED TO PULL OUT IN FRONT OF THE SERVICE TRUCK. NO VIDEO FOOTAGE OF THE ACCIDENT IS AVAILABLE FROM THE AIRPORT CAMERAS. AFTER THE SERVICE TRUCK DRIVER SWERVED, HE PROCEEDED STRAIGHT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WHICH PUT HIM IN A DIRECT PATH TOWARDS THE LEFT WING OF N208EE. THE TRUCK DRIVER STATED THAT HE DID NOT SEE THE AIRCRAFT WING BECAUSE THE WING IS HIGHER THAN THE TRUCK'S CAB AND HIS UPWARD VIEW WAS BLOCKED BY THE LIFT PLATFORM ON THE SERVICE TRUCK. THE LIFT PLATFORM EXTENDS BEYOND THE TOP OF THE TRUCK CAB'S ROOF. THE TRUCK'S MOMENTUM PUSHED N208EE BACKWARDS AND ALSO TO THE AIRCRAFT'S LEFT. THIS CAUSED N208EE'S NOSE TIRE TO BE APPROXIMATELY 14 FEET FROM ITS ORIGINAL POINT.

THE PILOT WAS ON-BOARD THE AIRCRAFT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT AND THE FIRST OFFICER WAS ON THE GROUND IN FRONT OF THE RIGHT WING WITH THE FUEL TRUCK OPERATOR PREPARING TO FUEL THE AIRCARFT FOR THE NEXT SCHEDULED FLIGHT. UPON EXAMINATION OF THE DAMAGE, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE LEFT WING SPAR CAP WAS BENT AT WING STATION WS 201.75. ACCORDING TO THE CESSNA REPAIR MANUAL, DAMAGE TO THE SPAR CAP INBOARD OF WS 226.0 REQUIRES REPLACEMENT. THE AIRCRAFT HAS SINCE BEEN DISMATLED AND TRUCKED TO A REPAIR FACILITY IN OKLAHOMA.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA409](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA409), Jul 4, 2018: Cessna 208 (N208EE), Chicago, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The service truck driver’s evasive maneuver to avoid a bag cart tug, which resulted in the truck impacting a parked airplane.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
