## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

UPON TOUCHDOWN TO RUNWAY 19 AT DESTIN/FT WALTON AIRPORT (VPS), AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED POSSIBLE MICROBURST EMBEDDED IN RAIN SHOWER IN AND AROUND THE VICINITY OF THE AIRPORT. THE CAPTAIN (VIA TELEPHONE INTERVIEW) STATED THAT LIGHT RAIN WAS OBSERVED NEAR THE AIRPORT BUT THE AIRPORT AND RUNWAY WERE FULLY CLEAR AND VFR FROM 3-5 MILES OUT DURING THE ENTIRE APPROACH. THE CAPTAIN REPORTED THAT ABOUT ONE SECOND AFTER TOUCHDOWN, A VERY STRONG CROSSWIND AND HEAVY RAIN ENVELOPED THE RUNWAY CREATING TEMPORARY IMC CONDITIONS FOR ABOUT 4 SECONDS. DURING THIS TIME THE AIRCRAFT WAS BLOWN OFF THE RUNWAY ONTO THE GRASS AT THE 4000 FOOT MARK AND REENTERED THE RUNWAY ABOUT 1000 FEET LATER. THE AIRCRAFT THEN TAXIED TO THE RAMP AND PARKED AT THE GATE. THE CAPTAIN STATED THAT THE WEATHER AND WINDS COMMUNICATED PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN WERE WELL WITHIN SAFE LANDING LIMITS. THE CAPTAIN BELIEVES A SPONTANEOUS MICROBURST OCCURRED ONE SECOND AFTER THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO MOMENTARILY DEPART THE RUNWAY. THE FIRST OFFICER (VIA TELEPHONE INTERVIEW) PROVIDED AN ALMOST IDENTICAL ACCOUNT OF EVENTS AS THE CAPTAIN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
