## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS PERFORMING AERIAL APPLICATION OPERATIONS. DURING A REPOSITIONING TURN/MANEUVER, THE PILOT STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP/PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE PILOT ABANDONED THE MANEUVER AND HEADED FOR A NEARBY FIELD. AT THIS TIME, ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, THE FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE INDICATED 0 AND THE QUANTITY INDICATED 15 GALLONS. THE PILOT PULLED THE FUEL BOOST (AFT) BREAKER IN AN EFFORT TO RESET THE PUMP/WARNING. THE ENGINE THEN DIED AND PILOT INITIATED AN AUTOROTATION MANEUVER TO A FIELD. UPON TOUCHDOWN IN THE FIELD, THE APPLICATION EQUIPMENT CAME INTO CONTACT WITH THE VEGETATION OF THE FIELD CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO TIP FORWARD ON THE SKIDS. DURING THE TIP, THE TAIL BOOM CAME INTO CONTACT WITH THE MAIN ROTOR CAUSING THE TAIL BOOM TO SEPARATE FROM THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SHUTDOWN AND SECURED BY THE PILOT. THE PILOT SUSTAINED NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN18LA260](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN18LA260), Jul 6, 2018: Bell 206 (N224KM), Bentley, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to ensure that adequate fuel was on board for the maneuvering flight, which resulted in a total loss of engine power due to fuel starvation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
