## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF, THE EXPERIMENTAL HOMEBUILT AIRCRAFT, WAS DESTROYED WHEN IT IMPACTED THE GROUND. THE PILOT, WHO WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT SUSTAINED FATAL INJURIES. PER WITNESSES THE AIRCRAFT WAS APPROXIMATELY 200', WHEN THE AIRCRAFT BANKED HARD TO THE RIGHT (EAST) AND NOSE DIVED INTO A FIELD. PER THE ACCIDENT FIRST RESPONDERS, THE AIRCRAFT WAS LEAKING FUEL, AND NO SIGNS OF SMOKE OR FIRE, PRIOR TO OR AFTER IMPACT WERE IDENTIFIED. THE MAIN FUEL TANK SHOWED HYDRAULIC FRACTURES, HOWEVER THE HEADER TANK DID NOT. THE PROPELLER DID NOT SHOW EVIDENCE OF ROTATION AT THE TIME OF IMPACT. THE FLIGHT CONTROLS HAD CONTINUITY FROM THE COCKPIT TO ALL CONTROL SURFACES. THE ENGINE INSPECTION ONLY SHOWED POST IMPACT ABNORMALITIES.

THE IIC WAS UNABLE TO RECOVER PILOT LOGBOOKS AND AIRCRAFT RECORDS, DUE TO THE PILOT'S WIFE NOT COOPERATING WITH THE INVESTIGATION. SHE STATED "THEY WERE GONE".

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN18FA265](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN18FA265), Jul 12, 2018: Rose Parrakeet A-1 (N14842), Rhome, TX, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's exceedance of the airplane's critical angle of attack after takeoff, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
