## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

07/19/2018 AT ABOUT 2:45PM THE PILOT WAS LANDING HIS AIRCRAFT ON HIS PRIVATE STRIP WHICH IS 1300 FT LONG AND 50FT WIDE. HE WAS LANDING ON 27 AND THE WIND WAS 3 TO 7 KNOTS. THE AIRPLANE FLOATED DOWN THE RUNWAY AND WAS NOT SETTLING ON THE GRASS. HE INITIATED A GO AROUND AND THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT CLEAR THE TREES AT THE EAST END OF THE RUNWAY. HE HIT THE TREES AND AFTER GOING THROUGH THEM, LANDED HARD. THE AIRPLANE WAS DAMAGED BUT HE WAS NOT INJURIED. HE SECURED THE AIRCRAFT BY TURNNG OFF THE FUEL VALVES, THE KEY AND MASTER. HE THEN WALKED TO HIS HOUSE AND CALLED THE NTSB.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA561](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA561), Jul 19, 2018: Apollo Fox (N791YE), Chateaugay, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain clearance from trees during a go-around.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
